# Garage Rafid — assumptions, gaps and placeholders Every gap in the brief, every inference made to fill it, and every point where the brief and the hard rules pulled against each other. One line each. Anything marked **owner must confirm** is a statement about Rafid's business that the brief does not literally contain. ## Facts the brief does not state — left as visible placeholders (never guessed) - **Opening hours** — not in the brief; rendered as a visible `[openingsuren volgen]` on the home hero card, the home practical block, the contact page and the footer of all three pages; deliberately **omitted from the JSON-LD** so no guessed hours can leak into search results. - **Prices** — not in the brief; no amount appears anywhere on the site. Every service closes with "vaste prijs op voorhand" instead of a number, and `priceRange` is omitted from the structured data. - **Company / VAT number** — not in the brief; footer carries `Ondernemingsnummer: [volgt]`. This is **legally required on a Belgian business website** and must be filled in before the site goes live. - **Domain name** — not in the brief (the email placeholder implies one, but guessing it would put a fabricated URL in the markup); ``, `og:url` and `og:image` are therefore omitted, with an HTML comment in each `` marking what to add at launch. - **Certifications, brand approvals, review counts, ratings** — not in the brief and not invented; there is no trust-badge strip, no star rating, and no `aggregateRating` node. ## Contact details - Phone, email and address are the brief's dummy placeholders, reproduced **verbatim** as instructed (`+32 400 00 00 00`, `info@garagerafid.example`, `Voorbeeldstraat 12, 2100 Deurne`). - **WhatsApp link** derived mechanically from the placeholder number (`wa.me/32400000000`); it must be re-derived from the real number at launch. - **"Toon op de kaart" link** on the contact page is built correctly but points at the placeholder address, so it will not resolve to a real location until the real address replaces it. Flagged rather than dropped, because a garage site needs directions and the link is right for the live case. ## Inferences — structural, but still statements about the business (owner must confirm) - **"Wat als er tijdens het werk iets extra opduikt? Dan bellen we u eerst."** — inferred from the brief's "fixed clear quotes before work starts" and "without surprise costs". It is the most load-bearing promise on the site; if Rafid works differently, this must change. - **"Moet ik een afspraak maken?" answered as "bel of stuur een WhatsApp-bericht, dan spreken we een moment af"** — inferred from the brief's stated goal (get calls and WhatsApp) plus its explicit exclusion of online booking. The brief does not state a walk-in policy. - **"Even bellen op voorhand is wel handig, dan staat de brug voor u vrij"** (contact page) — assumes the garage has a lift and prefers advance notice. Ordinary for the trade, but not stated. - **"We tonen u wat versleten is vóór we het vervangen"** (remmen) — inferred from "explains repairs honestly"; a genuine service promise that needs Rafid's sign-off. - **"zonder reclame te maken"** (about section) — inferred from "built on word of mouth" plus "no existing website, no social media". - **Service sub-items** — the brief names seven service categories but no detail, so each entry lists the ordinary components of that category (e.g. remvloeistof under remmen; zomer-/winterbanden wisselen under banden; lekken opsporen under airco). Rafid should trim anything he does not actually offer. - **Keuring scope** — written as preparation only ("de keuring zelf gebeurt bij een erkend keuringsstation"), matching the brief's "preparation for keuring"; no claim that the garage performs or attends the inspection, and no guarantee of passing (only "minder kans op een herkeuring"). - **Plaatwerk scope** — kept to "klein plaatwerk" per the brief, with an explicit line that larger or specialist work gets referred on. No spray-painting claim, since the brief does not mention it. - **"~20 years experience"** rendered throughout as "twintig jaar". The brief's approximation is presented as a round number, which is how the owner himself would say it. ## Language - **Belgian Dutch** (`lang="nl-BE"`) throughout, formal *u* register, chosen because the client is in Deurne (Antwerpen) and Netherlands-Dutch vocabulary reads foreign in Flanders. Belgian forms used deliberately: *herstellen* (not *repareren*), *keuring* / *herkeuring* (not *APK*), *nazicht*, *op voorhand* (not *van tevoren*), *uitbalanceren*, *plaatwerk*, *ondernemingsnummer*. - **A native Belgian-Dutch proofread is recommended before launch** — the copy is written to sound like a garage owner rather than a marketing department, and register is exactly the thing a non-native ear misses. - Arabic (`العربية`) and English are shown in the languages block with correct `lang` and `dir` attributes. This is a practical service fact from the brief ("Dutch, Arabic, English spoken in the shop"), presented as something useful to the customer, not as decoration. ## Copy authorship - **No quotation is attributed to Rafid anywhere on the site.** The brief supports no verbatim statements by him, and inventing one would breach the honesty rule. All copy is written in the garage's own voice ("we", "wij"), with Rafid described in the third person using only brief-stated facts. The sentences in italic on the home and services pages are **customer** sentences written as illustrative examples of what people say — they are not testimonials, are not attributed to anyone, and carry no names. - The owner should read the copy as his own words and adjust anything that does not sound like him. ## Design decisions where the brief was silent - **No logo and no brand colours** — so the wordmark is purely typographic (the name itself, no icon), and the palette is derived from the workshop's material world (workwear petrol blue, indicator amber, workshop-daylight off-white). Documented in `DESIGN-SYSTEM.md`. - **Primary action = phone call, WhatsApp secondary** — the brief lists "phone calls and WhatsApp messages" in that order; call is the filled amber button everywhere, WhatsApp always an outline beside it. - **No contact form**, per hard rule 12 and the static-site package: a form with no backend silently discards messages. The real channels are linked instead. - **WhatsApp is drawn as a line glyph in the site's own illustration language rather than as the brand logo** — the official green mark would become the loudest element on the page and break the palette. - **FAQ answers are always visible** rather than folded into accordions: better for an older reader, better for search engines, and it avoids hiding content behind an interaction. ## Brief vs. rules — tensions worth recording - **The brief's first goal is "be findable online", but it supplies neither opening hours nor prices** — the two things local search and AI answer engines lean on hardest for a garage. The findability floor is fully built (semantics, unique titles and metas, `AutoRepair` + `FAQPage` JSON-LD, natural-language FAQ including the brief's own example query "waar kan ik mijn auto laten herstellen in Antwerpen"), but **supplying real opening hours is the single highest-value next step** and costs the client nothing. - **"Service area: Antwerp and surrounding municipalities"** is used exactly as the brief phrases it. Hard rule 9 forbids inventing municipality lists, so no individual towns are named anywhere — including in the structured data — even though a specific list would help local search. Worth asking Rafid for the real list. - **Media: no photos, and stock imagery forbidden.** Rule 8's photos-exist case does not apply, so no `PHOTO-BRIEF.md` was written and no photo slots were designed. Recommendation for the client regardless: a dozen honest phone photos of the workshop, the lift, and Rafid's hands at work would lift this site further than any further design work, and the layout has room to take them. - `craft-base.md` was present and applied; its "one real aesthetic risk" was spent on the ignition self-test and the widened-grotesque / serif-speech / mono-work-order type system, gated to the quiet confidence this client's identity calls for.
